Happiness comes from having peace of mind. Money, beauty and relationships alone won’t make you happy. With so much out in the world to make anyone depressed and unhappy, try these 5 secrets to gaining more peace of mind to guard your mind and heart with peace.


I’m talking about inner peace  – the ability to find tranquility, calmness and joy in your daily living, being content and happy with yourself and your environment. No matter what’s going on in your life.


Is peace of mind having a load of cash? Not having to tolerate a bad boss. Not having to commute long hours to work again. Not longer being stuck in a job that bores you to tears; no longer being stuck with an abusive partner because, financially, you just can’t afford to leave.


No wonder – for some, it’s a load of cash! Not that I wouldn’t mind a load of cash myself right now. Fact, I seriously need some cash now! But I know cash on its own won’t make me happy. Or keep me happy.


How do I know cash alone doesn’t lead to happiness when I’ve never been that rich that I never had to worry about money?


Well, the answer for me is simple – just ask unhappy billionaires and millionaires. Some of them even committed suicides. Why? They were flush! Evidently, money on its own was not enough.


What about being solely dependent on our relationships to make us happy? True, having family and friends contribute to our sense of happiness. Spending time with people we love, people who love us is a great source of joy that we often underrate.


Like everyone, I’ve had times I’ve felt so down and got myself up again after spending time with friends and family who love and motivate me.

So, do I call friends and family the sole reason for my happiness? No.

Cultivating the right attitudes and activities that foster peace of mind and heart creates the right atmosphere for happiness.


Without peace of peace of mind and heart, you can have all the money in the world, great family and friends and still manage to ruin it all. Just because you are not happy with yourself, who you are, not happy with what you have in life.


Just because you are not happy with yourself, who you are, not happy with what you have in life.


You can be happy in the midst of that situation. Peace guards our hearts and minds so that we can be happy in the midst of those inevitable storms of life. Those situations that try our patience and sanity.


So, if you think you need peace of mind and heart for a happier life, you could mindfully cultivate activities attitudes that build the peace you need.

I don’t claim to have a perfect life, nor do I think I know everything. But, having mindfully worked on the five peace – building blocks above, what I call my Peace Bunker Bricks, I can say they work for me!
